Start episode of South Park on Hulu Plus. Watch two commercials. Show intro plays. Watch two more commercials. I’m so glad I’m paying for this.

It’s always cheerful when an ad on Facebook tells you that a friend who’s been dead for 7 months likes Miller Lite.

Seriously? Napoleon Dynamite got canceled but Bob’s Burgers got renewed again? How does that make sense? Napoleon got better ratings than Bob and didn’t suck. Hell, Napoleon got better ratings than The Cleveland Show and pretty similar ratings to American Dad. Once again, Fox has no idea what they’re doing.

Remember a little while back when I posted a list of 5 shows I hoped would make it to next season? Well, 4 of them (Last Man Standing, Community, American Dad! and Don’t Trust the B—— in Apartment 23) have officially been renewed. Napoleon Dynamite is still undecided at the moment. Here’s hoping for a full season where none of my favorites get the axe.

5 Shows That I Hope Make It To Next Season

1. Last Man Standing

Also known as “that new Tim Allen sitcom,” Last Man Standing is a really good show. At least in my opinion. It has a lot of parallels to Home Improvement while having its own unique style to it. Granted it’s general family-centric sitcom fare, but it’s one of the few multi-camera sitcoms on the air that’s actually funny.

2. Napoleon Dynamite

The animated series based on the movie is surprisingly good, despite being an animated series based on a movie. The style is a lot more like Family Guy or The Simpsons than the movie, so it has a bit more appeal. It hasn’t gotten the greatest ratings, but it’s still pulling in better ratings than Bob’s Burgers did last year when it got renewed. And Bob’s Burgers is terrible.

3. Community

This should be a no-brainer, but this show has been on the edge of cancellation for a while, which has only been more alarming due to the hiatus it went through at the beginning of the year. However, it’s had a lot of hype surrounding it and it beat American Idol in the ratings upon its return, so things are looking up, especially with so many networks interested in picking up syndicated reruns.

4. American Dad!

FOX doesn’t seem to care much for this show and seems to treat it like the black sheep of the Seth MacFarlane family. It’s just barely been getting renewed for years, despite being much better than Family Guy. It pulls in higher ratings than The Cleveland Show, which FOX seems determined to keep going with for some reason. At the very least, it’s not currently in the 7/6c PM death slot, so that shows some promise.

5. Don’t Trust the B—— in Apartment 23

I’ll admit, I’ve only seen the pilot of this show so far, but it has potential. It’s pretty funny and offbeat and one of the main characters is James Van Der Beek playing a fictionalized version of James Van Der Beek. What’s not to love?
